CAN I ADD TO MY FACEBOOK OR MY WEB SITE THE PICTURES (SNAPS) YOU TOOK AT AN EVENT ?
I call ›"Snaps" the pictures I casually take at various events for everyone's enjoyment.
I release those pictures under the ›Creative Commons licence 3, meaning, you are free to copy and share to non-commercial aims, as long as no modifications are made and you credit them as my work. I often use Facebook to distribute Snaps via the Facebook albums.
You can use the picture on your site, if you like, but copying and re-uploading them to your Facebook album is not recommended.
Those pictures already are on Facebook - why waste time uploading them again ? Tag yourself and the people you know and add comments to the pictures, where they are. This way you are interacting with number of new people, rather than showing them to "friends" who already know you.
This way, also, all the comments and connections are kept in one place - the pictures (if tagged) will show up in your Facebook Profile, anyway.
That is the most effective way of using pictures with the Facebook interface.
Should you still want to copy my Snaps to put them in your own albums, then credit and tag me as the photographer - that is the requirement of the CC licence. If you do not, I will not be chasing you around, but I will draw my conclusions...
It is a good practice, and generally worthwhile, to contact me if you want to use my pictures, or see more pictures on-line, in any case.
Pictures of you placed on my personal site can go a long way - they can be found easily, with keywords and links attached, while viewed in a clutter-free environment on a site which enjoys considerable traffic.
